Danish Crown Princely Couple in Bomb Scare

All passengers on a Scandinavian Airlines System flight from Copenhagen Airport to Chicago, which also carried Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, were evacuated yesterday as a passenger remarked that he had a bomb in his backpack. Grand Duke Henri’s younger brother, Prince Jean of Luxembourg, wed for the second time last Wednesday in Roermondm, Holland. The bride was Jean’s long-time partner, Diane de Guerre. Yesterday, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia paid a day-long visit to the county of Gavleborg. During the visit, the pair met with a chimpanzee named Selma at the zoo in Gävle, Gävleborg County’s main city. Queen Silvia opens ‘Viola’ Flower Show

The Dutch Queen opened a flower exhibition yeterday in Lisse; and a similar engagement was undertaken by Sweden’s Queen Silvia. Beatrix opens Keukenhof Flower Exhibition

Queen Beatrix yesterday opened the 60th edition of the International Flower Exhibition Keukenhof in Lisse. The Queen officially opened the event by baptising the new Spring Garden tulip. The Prince of Orange has spoken at the 5th World Water Forum. The forum began on Monday, March 16th, when a summit meeting for heads of state was held at Istanbul’s Ciragan Palace. The Forum is held every three years, and this year’s key themes are sanitation, climate change and increasing demand for water. Luxembourg Parliament Removes Grand Duke’s Power

The Luxembourg Government passed an amendment to Article 34 of the Luxembourg Constitution on March 12th, removing Grand Duke Henri’s power to vote on parliamentary matters. The Grand Duke now has a more ceremonial role in the Government; while he must sign the acts and bills of parliament, he does not enact them. Prince Felix attends Ladies Cup

On March 14th, Prince Felix attended the final of the Coupe de Luxembourg des dames (LaLux Ladies Cup). At the end of the game, Felix presented the winning team – Residence – with the trophy. Queen Silvia attended the start of the 52nd Session on Narcotic Drugs at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna yesterday, March 11. King Carl Gustaf attends Skiing World Cup

King Carl XVI Gustaf attended the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals in Åre today. The King presented the winner of the ladies’ downhill competition, American Lindsey Vonn, with her trophy. The competition is something that the King has attended in the past, sometimes accompanied by his wife Queen Silvia and eldest daughter Victoria.
