Denmark’s Margrethe II Names New Prime Minister

Yesterday, Queen Margrethe II named Lars Løkke Rasmussen as the 40th Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark, the fifth in her reign. The decision came after the previous Prime Minster, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, handed her his resignation to become the Secretary General of NATO. Victoria’s Volvo Ocean Race Kiss

Crown Princess Victoria has completed an official visit to Brazil, a visit which focused on the 2009 Volvo Ocean Race in Rio de Janeiro. Princess Laurentien at Society to Benefit Education 225th Anniversary

Yesterday, Princess Laurentien travelled to Rotterdam to attend the Society to Benefit General Education’s 225th anniversary celebration. The event took place at Rotterdam’s National Museum, where the Princess was presented with the first copy of the Society’s jubilee book. HGD Guillaume Awards Work Promotion Diplomas

Earlier today, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume awarded Work Promotion 2008/2009 diplomas. The event took place at the Grand-Théâtre de la Ville, and Guillaume awarded the dilpomas to young master craftsmen and those who were awarded with the Work Promotion 2008/2009 diplomas. Willem-Alexander and Máxima attend Premiere

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima attended the premiere of the theatre production ‘MAPENZI Tamu’ (‘Sweet Love’) at the RAI Theatre in Amsterdam last night. Mary’s Saturday of Fun

Saturday April 4th was a fun-filled day for Crown Princess Mary, as she undertook two engagements in different cities. Mary’s first engagement was the acceptance of a donation for the Christmas Seal Foundation (Julemærkefonden). As patron of the foundation, Mary accepted the 250,000DKK collected in 2008 to go towards the Christmas Seal Homes for children, the four in Denmark currently deal with obesity. Danish Royals help celebrate Home Guard’s 60th Anniversary

The Danish Royal Family was out in force on Wednesday April 1st to help the Danish Home Guard celebrate their 60th anniversary. The eyes of royal-watchers were split between Crown Princess Mary in her military uniform and Princess Marie’s baby bump. Sweden’s King and Queen have a Busy Day

Yesterday, the King and Queen of Sweden had a busy day. First, the pair attended the inauguration of the Sweden-America Centre in Karlstad. At the centre, Carl Gustaf and Silvia viewed exhibits of American/Swedish newspapers and sculptures. In a press conference yesterday, Prince Carl Philip introduced a line of silvery cutlery he has design for the Swedish company Mema/GAB. The cutlery line, which has been named CPB 2091, is made of silver and a set of five pieces (knife, fork, spoon, dessert spoon, coffee spoon) can be purchased from goldsmith stores around Sweden for 999 Swedish kroner (approximately 95 Euros). Princess Margriet yesterday opened a symposium at the Martini Plaza in Groningen, as part of the 75th anniversary of the General Dutch Association for the Prevention of Blindness (ANVBB). The Danish Royal Court yesterday released a series of new portraits of the adult members of the family. The series of portraits were taken this past January, in conjunction with the New Year’s Courts. Princess Alexandra attends Basketball Final

Luxembourg’s Princess Alexandra attended the final of the Luxembourg Men’s Basketball Cup 2009. The event was held at the National Sports and Cultural Center in Coque on March 21st.
