Eightieth Birthday of Bulgaria’s Last Tsar

The last Tsar of Bulgaria, Simeon II, today celebrates his eightieth birthday. A private party will be held this weekend in Sofia attended by his family and close friends. Prince Kardam of Bulgaria Has Died

Kardam, Prince of Turnovo, the eldest son of former Tsar Simeon and Tsarina Margarita, passed away this morning in a Madrid hospital. He was 52. Prince Kardam Discharged from Hospital

After several media outlets last week reported on prince Kardam’s hospitalisation, ‘Hola!’ now reports on their website that prince Kardam has been discharged from the Conxo provinvial hospital in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. In ‘Hola!’ Kardam’s wife, princess Miriam, says that the prince has been discharged. Spanish newspaper ‘El Correo Gallego’ reported two days ago that prince Kardam of Bulgaria, eldest son of ex-king Simeon II, was admitted to Conxo Hospital in Galicia, Spain. On January 23rd the prince was taken to the Clinical Hospital of Santiago as he was suffering from a high fever and respiratory problems. Controversial Court Ruling in Favour of Simeon Saxe Coburg

In a highly controversial ruling, the Bulgarian Court has allowed wood-cutting in the lands belonging to the country’s former Tsar, Simeon Saxe Coburg. The permission will be effective until a ban on wood-cutting, issued by the head of the State Forest Estate, comes into force.
