Funeral Details of Prince Henrik Announced

At a press briefing this morning in Copenhagen, the Danish Royal Court announced that Prince Henrik’s funeral service will take place on Tuesday February 20 at the Christiansborg Slotskirke. The funeral service will begin at 11am, and by attended only by close family and friends. It will not be a state funeral. The Danish Royal Court has made the sad announcement that Prince Henrik, husband of Queen Margrethe II, has passed away at the age of 83. “His Royal Highness Prince Henrik died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday 13 February at 11.18pm, at Fredensborg Palace. Her Majesty the Queen and their two sons were at his side,” the statement read. A bulletin from the Danish Royal Court this morning has announced that Prince Henrik has been transferred from Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet to Fredensborg Palace. The Prince, who is 83, has been at Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet since January 28th, when he returned to Denmark from Egypt for medical treatment. Prince Henrik Undergoes Groin, Pelvis Surgery

The Danish Royal Court announced on Monday that Prince Henrik has undergone surgery on his groin and pelvis, where balloon stents were placed in pulmonary arteries in the area which were blocked. The operation took place at Skejby Hospital in Aarhus. Prince Henrik is expected to be released on Wednesday. The Court had previously announced Thursday that he had been hospitalised for treatment on a leg infection.

Foundation of Queen Margrethe & Prince Henrik Donates To Greenland Tsunami Victims

The foundation of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark has donated 200,000DKK (26,800€ / $30,000USD) to the relief effort currently going on in Greenland following a tsunami that hit the northwest of the country last weekend. Summers in Marselisborg: Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik Arrive in Aarhus

Denmark’s Queen and her husband arrived into Aarhus Harbour on Friday aboard the royal yacht Dannebrog to begin their summer residence at nearby Marselisborg Palace. Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik were welcomed by music from the Home Guard’s Music Corps Aarhus, as well as officials from the Aarhus municipality. The couple will spend the next three weeks at Marselisborg, before moving to Graasten Palace for a family summer break there.

Margrethe and Henrik Celebrate Golden Wedding Aboard The Dannebrog

The Queen and Prince Consort of Denmark have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary privately abroad the Danish royal yacht Dannebrog today. A few photographs of the couple were released on Saturday, as they relaxed on the ship and presented the Dannebrog crew with commemorative medals minted to mark the anniversary. All members of the royal family and the royal court have also received the medal.
