Prince Frederik attends Climate Conference

Crown Prince Frederik attended the opening of the International Scientific Congress on Climate Change hosted by the University of Copenhagen yesterday. Frederik attended the event in the morning, and was then hospitalised with a broken fibia suffered during his family holiday to Switzerland late last month. Princess Laurentien Knows that “It Begins with Reading”

As patron for literacy, Princess Laurentien yesterday attended the launch of a new starters package called “It Begins with Reading”, to promote the importance of reading in children even from an early age. The package is aimed at daycare centre employees, to teach them the benefits of childhood reading and to encourage it amongst their pupils and parents. Danish Crown Princely Family in Miami

Crown Prince Frederik is currently competing in the 2009 Acura Miami Grand Prix regatta in Miami, Florida. His family – Crown Princess Mary, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella – joined him on the trip; arriving on the fourth of March for the competition. Willem-Alexander and Máxima Help End Dutch International Polar Year

The Prince of Orange and Princess Máxima yesterday attended the final event of the fourth International Polar Year in the Netherlands. The pair attended the ‘Pool Experience 2009’ event in Middelburg. The event was showcasing life in the polar regions and Dutch polar research. Prince Pieter-Christiaan Injured during Ski Trip

Prince Pieter-Christiaan, the 36-year-old nephew of Queen Beatrix, injured himself during a skiing holiday in Seefeld, Austria, earlier this week. The Prince fell while skiing, and injured his ribs. He was flown via helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck for treatment. Pieter-Christiaan returned to Holland on Tuesday to recover from his injuries.

The Two Carls attend Agriculture and Gardening Conference

Yesterday, February 26, Sweden’s two Carls – King Carl XVI Gustaf and Prince Carl Philip – had a joint engagement. The father and son duo attended the inauguration of the agriculture and gardening conference at the University of Agricultural Studies in the Swedish village of Alnarp. Prince Carl Philip is currently studying at Alnarp University.

Pieter van Vollenhoven attends Book Presentation

Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven yesterday was presented with the first copy of a new book regarding the history of Soestdijk Palace; “Paleis Soestdijk – Drie eeuwen huis van Oranje’ (‘Soestdijk Palace – Three Centuries of the House of Orange’). Queen Beatrix has sent her deepest condolences, expressing her profound sadness, to the victims of yesterday’s aeroplane crash and their families. The Queen is in contact with the authorities in being updated on the crash. Nine people were killed and eighty-six injured when Turkish Airlines Flight 1951, en route from Istanbul, crashed on its approach to the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The Princess Royal visits Fire-Ravaged Towns in Victoria

Countess Feodora of Rosenborg welcomes a Daughter

Countess Feodora of Rosenborg, the youngest daughter of Queen Margrethe’s first cousin Count Christian of Rosenborg, has introduced her three-week-old baby daughter to Danish magazine Billed Bladet. Little Caroline-Mathilde Margrethe Rønnow was born on February 1st via Caesarean section, and is Feodora’s first child with her second husband Morten Rønnow. Crown Princess Mary completes Home Guard Training

Continuing and completing her training with the Danish Home Guard between February 17 and 19, Crown Princess Mary has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant in the Home Guard. King Carl XVI Gustaf in Thailand

King Carl XVI Gustaf has returned home following a three day visit, between February 17 and 19, to Thailand to attend the Baden-Powell Followship’s event. The event was on the February 17; and the following day, the King officially launched a new scout group at a school in Pattaya for visually impaired children. Carl XVI Gustaf presented the new scouts with scout neckerchiefs, as member of several Swedish scouting organisations.

Princess Máxima Visits Oss

Princess Máxima visited the Dutch town of Oss on February 12. The Princess visited ‘The Inner’ cultural centre where she was informed of project work in the community, before awarding the town with a prize for their participation and citizenship in 2008. The town won the prize for the manual their residents developed on initiatives they are making in their town.
