Mrs Brynner, who is the executive of Dior’s home furnishings department, was awarded the Order for her contributions to the arts and meeting the required “contribution to the enrichment of the French cultural inheritance.” She is the second wife of Russian actor Yul Brynner, who won an Academy Award for his role in The King and I.

Princess Marie-Chantal spoke with Women’s Wear Daily about her relationship with Brynner, saying that she would “steal M&Ms” from her shop in Morges and Gstaad, Switzerland when she was eight years old.

Also in attendance was Jaime de Marichalar, former husband of Infanta Elena of Spain, and Empress Farah of Iran. De Marichalar posed for photos with Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal during the reception, while Empress Farah kept a low profile, sharing with Women’s Wear Daily a little snippet of her first meeting with Brynner: Brynner was sitting with Audrey Hepburn behind the Empress at a hockey match during the 1968 Olympic Games in France.

De Marichalar attended Paris Fashion Week in January with Brynner, while Prince Pavlos attended the private viewing of the Yul Brynner: A Photographic Journey exhibition in London with Brynner that same month.
