Norwegian Royals celebrate National Day
May 17th 2010: Happy Birthday Norway! Today the Royal Family and the Norwegian people celebrated the National day of Norway.
The day started with the Crown Princely family greeting the children’s parade at their residence Skaugum.
Later the members of the Royal house gathered at the balcony of the Royal Palace in Oslo where they watched the children’s parade. Children from 109 different schools were attending the parade which was watched by the Royal couple, the Crown Princely couple and Princess Ingrid Alexandra. The traditional greeting of the children’s parade was first introduced by King Haakon in 1906.
In the afternoon the Norwegian Royal couple visited the urban district of Nordre Aker.
