Baron Niclas Silfverschiöld Has Died, Age 82

The Swedish Royal Court announced on Tuesday evening the death of Baron Niclas Silfverschiöld, the husband of Princess Désirée, at the age of 82, on April 11.

“My family and I have with great sadness received the news that Baron Niclas Silfverschiöld has passed away. Our thoughts go to Princess Désirée and their family,” a statement from King Carl XVI Gustaf said of his brother-in-law’s death.

The Baron was born in May 1934; he married the third daughter of Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla in 1964. He is survived by his wife, their three children, and four grandchildren.
