Spanish State Visit to Britain Postponed
After speculation last week, it has been confirmed that the upcoming Spanish state visit to the United Kingdom has been postponed.
The reason for the postponement is the fact that a new government has yet to be formed in Spain following December’s elections. The process is expected to last several more weeks, and it would be inopportune for King Felipe VI to be out of the country.
A spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth II said that she “fully understands the decision and the context in which it was taken”. The spokesperson also said it was too soon to comment on a replacement date.
