Spanish State Visit To Mexico, Day 1
On day one of their State Visit to Mexico, King Felipe and Queen Letizia laid a floral wreath tribute at the Monument to the Child Heroes of Mexico at Chapultepec Park before attending an official welcome ceremony at Campo Marte in the presence of the Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto, and his wife Angélica Rivera.
During the welcome ceremony, a canon salute was fired and a military parade was watched by the royals and the delegation. After the welcome ceremony, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were received by the Mexico City mayor Miguel Angel Mancera at the city council at Zocalo in Mexico City’s main square. They were awarded the title of Distinguished Guests of Mexico City and given the keys to the city.
King Felipe and Queen Letizia then attended a private lunch meeting with the President and the first lady. For the lunch, Letizia recycled a skirt suit.
Later in the evening, the royal couple attended a state dinner. Queen Letizia wore a red one shoulder dress. King Felipe gave a speech during the dinner as did the Mexican President.
