Prince Maurits was today appointed to the post of aide-de-camp extraordinary to his cousin, King Willem-Alexander.

The new King also promoted his cousin to the rank of Captain-Lieutenant in the Dutch Royal Navy. These new appointments mean that Prince Maurits can attend and represent King Willem-Alexander at military ceremonies. His military uniform will bear the monogram of the King.

The position is one which the Prince’s father, Professor Pieter van Vollenhoven, held for the former monarch, Princess Beatrix.
