King Juan Carlos: Successful Surgery

Earlier today His Majesty The King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, left the San José Hospital in Madrid following an operation yesterday to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon.

The Palace of Zarzuela issued a statement to confirm that His Majesty The King was in good condition at The Palace of Zarzuela, where he will continue his recovery.

The King’s health has been a topic of interest in recent years, undergoing lung surgery and knee operations. Read more about The King’s health here.

  1. Pardon me for nit-picking, but, as an old English teacher, is must: Isn’t Juan Carlos the 2nd with that name? Wasn’t his grandfather the first?

    No, Juan Carlos’ grandfather was Alfonso XIII. His father’s name was Juan, with Carlos as his first middle name, not joined as his first name. Infante Juan’s name has no bearing on Juan Carlos’ regnal name though, as he was never King (he would have been Juan III if he had been King however).
