Abdication Law Approved By Japanese Parliament

The Upper House of the Japanese Parliament on Friday approved a special law that will allow Emperor Akihito, 83, to abdicate within the next three years. Poll Indicates Japanese Population Support Emperor’s Desire to Step Down

New Succession Rules Take Effect in Britain

Qatar Has A New Emir

33-year-old Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad has become Qatar’s new Emir. Sheikh Tamim was handed power from his father, Sheikh Hamad, who ruled Qatar for eighteen years. The new Emir of Qatar gave a fifteen minute televised speech on regional and domestic issues. Sheikh Tamim said he will follow in his father’s footsteps.
