On December 16, the late King Michael’s funeral took place at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Bucharest. King Michael was later buried beside his late wife, Queen Anne, at the Curtea de Argeș. The Romanian Royal Family has announced a short time ago the death of former King Mihai I. He was 96. King Mihai passed away today at his home in Aubonne, Switzerland, at 1pm Romanian local time. Royal Family Files Complaint With Swiss Police Against Fromer Prince

The Romanian royal family has filed a complaint against Nicholas Medforth-Mills, formerly Prince Nicholas of Romania, grandson of king Mihai. Mr. Medforth-Mills was denied entry to the house of his ill grandfather King Mihai in Geneva. King Michael’s Health Worsening, Princess Margareta Returns To Switzerland

A statement issued by the Romanian Royal House today reveals that the health of 96-year-old former King Mihai I has “worsened considerably”. “King Michael’s general state of health has worsened considerably, with a significant decline in his physical strength,” the statement reads. Today, marks the 20th anniversary of the return of His Majesty King Michael of Romania to his homeland after many years in exile. Tax Liability for King Michael?

Romanian news website, Romania Insider, reports that His Majesty King Michael I of Romania is amongst a list of 187,000 names of the country’s biggest individual debtors to the State. According to the report, King Michael has tax liabilities of RON4.1 million (Romanian Leu), which is just over EUR 910,000 or around £697,000.
