The Imperial Household Agency of Japan has released new portraits of Princess Aiko, The Princess Toshi on occasion of her 22nd birthday today. The birthday photos were taken one week ago, on November 24th at the Archives and Mausolea Department Building in Tokyo. Emperor and Empress Enjoy Concert

On May 4th, Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako and Princess Aiko attended a performance by the Vienna Boys’ Choir at Suntory Hall in Minato, Tokyo. They enjoyed about 90 minutes of music. On December 1st, Princess Aiko of Japan turned celebrated her 20th birthday. The Princess, only child of Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako, was born on 1 December 2001 at the Imperial Household Agency Hospital. A New Imperial Portrait!

A new oil painting of Their Majesties The Emperor and Empress of Japan was revealed yesterday by the Imperial Household Agency. The painting, by 81 year old Hiroshi Noda, is square portrait measuring two metres by two metres and depicts Their Majesties standing formally side-by-side.  It uses muted tones, colour and light, with Emperor Akihito wearing a dark suit and tie, and Empress Michiko resplendent in full-length embroidered outfit and a … Continue reading

Japan’s Princess Mako Postpones Wedding Until “At Least 2020”

The Imperial Household Agency issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that the wedding of Princess Mako of Akishino and Kei Komuro has been postponed “until at least 2020”. “Lack of preparation” was cited by an IHA spokesperson, Takaharu Kaji, as the reason for the postponement – Princess Mako and Mr Komuro had been scheduled to become formally engaged on March 4th, with their wedding ceremony to take place in November. Emperor Akihito To Abdicate In April 2019

Sayako Kuroda Made Supreme Priestess Of Holiest Shinto Shrine
