Looking forward to seeing a coronation. I was only One year old for Elizabeth's and my

family did not have a television back then. I probably won't be around to see the next
one.

It was reported Queen Camilla's grandchildren will replace the traditional Duchesses as bearers of the canopy during her anointment. So they will have an official role indeed.

As far as I read, it was reported that it was her wish, but not that it would necessarily happen.

The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf claims that the Princess of Orange will represent the Royal House of the Netherlands at the Coronation. There is no official confirmation yet. The Dutch Business News Radio claims that the King, Queen Máxima and the Princess of Orange will attend. Also no confirmation yet.

A little further reading on the Sacred Stone of Scone,I hadn't previously known of its legendry links to the Hill of Tara in Ireland.
https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20230305-the-disputed-history-of-the-coronation-stone

‘It's likely that a more ancient stone was used to crown the kings of Ireland, and this was probably brought first to Antrim from Tara and then to Scotland by King Fergus, but sometime after that it was replaced by the present stone that was quarried close to Scone.‘

Yes I like that idea and think that it’s almost certainly true!

So basically, the media don't have a clue! ?

The Hill of Tara was where the Irish High Kings were proclaimed and enthroned ,there could well be a connection.

In a story (archive link) that mostly contains speculation about who will be attend, the Telegraph reports that Camilla's grandchildren will not be holding her canopy:

"Camilla was reportedly keen for the teenagers to carry the canopy that is placed over her during the anointing, but Buckingham Palace swiftly quashed the suggestion.
It is thought instead that the boys may be pages."

I like that better. I feel asking Duchesses to wear the canopy is a sort of connection with the most high and most noble families in the United Kingdom.

Presumably, they don't need to be boys so I hope some girls will be included.

The coronation of Charles III and why Princess Leonor should attend the ceremony

At almost 18 years old, it is time that we can see, for the first time, the Princess of Asturias immerse herself in the great royal soup to which she belongs by origin and destiny.

I don't think the Princess of Asturias should attend an event of that magnitude before she is 18 and constitutionally eligible to become Queen without an associated Regent.

In any case, according to the Spanish press, it appears that, breaking with tradition, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will attend the coronation, so Leonor's attendance is unlikely (I don't think there will be more than two representatives per country).

EDIT: It is interesting that Spain is one of the western European countries with which the UK currently has the most political and diplomatic disputes (because of Gibraltar and Brexit), but, neverthless, the Spanish RF is one of the continental RFs that seem to be the closest to King Charles III personally, maybe because Queen Sofia is his second cousin. I believe King Charles is very close to the Dutch RF too, even though, unlike King Felipe VI, they are not close to King Charles in degree of kinship.

Vanitatis? The name means emptiness, nothingness, vanity, and that indeed is the niveau of their articles. Do not attach any credibility to these.

Isn't Leonor in the UK already? King Charles and Prince William are also her cousins from Prince Phillip's side via Grandma Queen Sofia and from King Juan Carlos's side through Queen Victoria's lines.
I hope she would attend the event, meet with her UK relatives in full tiara moment.

Completely. They write big headlines to later say that she may not go and when the event is held they will criticize the Royal House again for not sending her.

They avoid essential information. Those days Leonor will be taking her final exams for the International Baccalaureate. Since she is expected to study at a Spanish public university, she needs a high score in her exams to gain admission. Obviously that is more important to her and her future role than going to this event.

She would need a high score too, possibly even higher, if she planned, like Elisabeth, to study at a top British university like Cambridge or Oxford.

They write articles extremely detailed when describing the clothes and style of the royal ladies. This magazine is no more or less acceptable than sources like Hello, Hola, OK, Point de Vue whom also do the same type of articles.

I know Hello, Hola and Point de Vue since time began, they were favorites of my grandmother and her sisters to collect and pass around, and any issue the style of writing is all the same to me. I didn't mean to give a rude response, if so I'm sorry. But of all magazines this one has the title 'Vanity' that is a pun to describes a feeling for a look. That's it. :ermm:

But there's no need for "credibility" to opine that Leonor "should" attend the British coronation. That is only an expression of opinion, not a statement of truth.

Even we anonymous posters, with zero "credibility", have expressed our preferences in this thread about which royals we think should be sent to the coronation.

I have read some articles published on Vanitatis which were informative, so it is at least not all sensationalism.

I even think that Leonor could be present, along with Felipe and Letizia. After all, she is in the United Kingdom and it would be nice if Leonor's debut at an event with European royalty was at a coronation.
It's true that she has to study for the tests, but she can give up a few hours to be there, and on top of that it's Saturday.
We'll wait and see what they decide, but I don't believe she's there either.
