I like the top and the skirt, just not together. Her hair does look lovely though.

I seriously question if she owns a full length mirror and if so, does she ever use it?!! What a mish-mash.

It's a lovely top - the colour particularly. The ruffles the skirt are the sort of thing one might have seen on a Victorian crinoline and just doesn't work on an ordinary skirt - a ballgown maybe.

Marie looked impeccable and solemn to demonstrate her respects for the horrific attacks in France, at the French church in Copenhagen. She attended the event with Frederick.

the hat was too much for me

but at an event like this, fashion was the least of the priorities.
Its nice that she attended with CP Frederik

I completely agree with Polyesco.
Both seemed genuinely grieving. Such a sad state of affairs...

I think she wore the large brimmed hat to give her some privacy when she was crying. When you watch the video she put her head down a number of times and the hat afforded her a bit of privacy as she was wiping away tears.

well, its the fashion thread, the sadness of the event is being discussed elsewhere.

that is true.
I didn't mean we couldn't discuss the fashion.

For me...too big of a hat, and disliking the turtleneck

Once again, I agree with Polyesco. Whatever the occasion, Marie never seems to get it all together in the right way. :(

I like what Marie chose. The hat is regal and afforded her privacy as someone else said - being French, this must feel particularly close to her. It is my impression that probably only Frederick was going to attend but Marie proposed to join to celebrate the lives of her fellow country men and women who perished.

I like Marie. Elegant and dressed appropriately for the occasion. And hat adds more elegance in appearance.

I am afraid you miss the obvious. Every single engagement dictates what the royal wears....

This sad engagement dictated black, but when it comes to hats Marie's tend toward the frivolous so she wore a very elegant plain black hat, perfect for the occasion while also affording her a little privacy.

This was about critizising or discussing something frivolous as fashion at all (in this case not liking the style of the hat) with regard to what happened. Its about the style of the hat not the mourning outfit in general.
