Princess Laurentien Attends National Reading Breakfast Days Launch

On Wednesday January 24, Princess Laurentien participated in the launch of the fifteenth edition of the National Reading Breakfast Days at the Children’s Book Museum in The Hague.

During the event, the Princess read the book “Ssst! Don’t Wake Up the Tiger”. The book by Britta Teckentrup was named Picture Book of the Year 2018 by a jury of Dutch children’s librarians.

The National Reading Days is an initiative of the Reading Foundation and organized by the Foundation for Collective Promotion of the Dutch Book (CPNB). The campaign aims to encourage the reading of children who don’t read yet.

The Reading & Writing Foundation is an initiative of Princess Laurentien and it was launched on May 27, 2004. Since January 2014, the Princess is Honorary Chairman of the Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to prevent and reduce illiteracy in the Netherlands and internationally.

Starting today, the National Reading Days will last until Saturday February 3.
