The National Read Week, an initiative of the Reading Foundation and organized by the Foundation CPNB (Collective Propaganda for the Dutch Book), will last until January 29. The goal of the campaign is to promote reading to children who can not read. During the event, various activities will be held around for reading like organizing libraries, bookstores, schools, kindergartens and nurseries.

Countless politicians, ministers, athletes and other celebrities have read during the morning at nurseries, schools and libraries on a story for preschoolers. Among others, former judoka Dennis van der Geest, PvdA leader Job Cohen and Princess Laurentien have joined the eighth edition of the National Read For Breakfast. Princess Laurentien is known to read to her three children every night before to go to bed. “It’s a nice moment together,” she once said.

The campaign is an initiative of the Foundation for Reading, which was founded in 2004 by Princess Laurentien. This foundation is dedicated to people who have difficulty reading and writing. The foundation Collective Propaganda for the Dutch Book (CPNB) arranges for “Read Now”.
