Late Thai King Cremated in Elaborate Ceremony
The cremation of King Bhumibol Adulyadej -known as King Rama IX after his death- of Thailand took place yesterday in Bangkok. The lavish 5-day ceremony lasted for several hours and was attended by royals from all over the world.

The ceremonies will continue until Sunday. Today the ashes of the late king and the relics will be removed and transferred to the Dusit Maha Phasat Throne Hall of the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Saturday there will be a final service of merit. The ceremonies will come to an end on Sunday with the internment of the royal relics to the Heavenly Abode Room, Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall of the Grand Palace and by the Internment service of the royal ashes at the Royal Cemetery at Wat Ratchabophit followed by a procession to the Wat Bowonniwet Vihara Royal Temple and a final memorial interment service.
