Crown Princess Mette-Marit was present tonight for the opening of a photography exhibition in memory of its artist, Tom Sandberg.

60 black and white photographs taken by Mr Sandberg, who died last year, make up the exhibition, which has been described as “open, subjective and confrontational” by the joint curators, Sune Nordgren and Ida Kierulf.

“This exhibition highlights the duality and ambiguity of Sandberg’s works. It’s all about contrasts of living, that it is possible at the same time to be both present and turned away,” Crown Princess Mette-Marit said during the event, “Many, many years ago I discovered Tom Sandberg’s art…I feel privileged to have had the chance to get acquainted with the man Tom Sandberg and with his creative universe.”
