Crown Prince Naruhito is currently embarking on the first visit of a member of Japan’s Imperial Family to the communist nation of Vietnam. The Prince arrived on February 9, and will spend a week in the country. The trip marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Vietnam.

On his first official day, February 10; Naruhito met with Vietnam’s Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. He also visited a disabled school, where students performed music for their royal visitor. A visit to the mausoleum of late President Ho Chi Minh followed.
