Princess Charlène of Monaco’s Irish ancestry was revealed yesterday.

The Princess accompanied by her husband, Prince Albert II, was presented with a Certificate of Irish Heritage by the Irish Ambassador to France yesterday at a reception at the Princes Palace of Monaco. The certificate is official recognition by the Irish Government for people with Irish ancestry.

The Princess’s Fagan ancestors were a very successful family in the city of Dublin in the 16th-17th centuries.

Of course, the Irish ancestry of her husband is well documented thanks to the numerous trips made to Ireland by his late mother Princess Grace and her deep Irish Kelly family roots. This exciting family research was carried out by genealogy researchers Eneclann for Tourism Ireland.
