Funeral of Saudi Crown Prince

Carried by his sons and brothers, Saudi Arabia’s late Crown Prince, Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, has been buried in the Al-Oud Cemetery, the resting place of many members of his family.

The funeral service, which took place at Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh, was held in presence of the late 85 year-old heir’s brother, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz al Saud. It was also attended by number of leaders and delegates from the Arab region and the world.

The body of the late Crown Prince arrived in Saudi Arabia on Monday and was received by King Abdullah and members of the royal family, as well as government officials.

The late Prince Sultan, who died last Saturday in New York City after long cancer battle, served as Minister of Defence for half century. He was appointed as Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia in 2005, after the death of his brother, King Fahad.
