State Visit from the Netherlands – Day 1

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is on a three-day State Visit to Norway. The Queen arrived at the port of Oslo yesterday, where she was welcomed by King Harald V of Norway. Queen Sonja and the Crown Princely couple were also in attendance. Queen Beatrix travelled to Norway on board of the Dutch frigate Tromp.
During the welcoming ceremony the national anthems were played and Queen Beatrix met the King’s Guard, representatives of official institutions and also members of the Dutch community in Norway.

Later the day their Majesties attended the wreath-laying ceremony in Akershus which is tradition for heads of state who pay a visit to Norway. Later Queen Beatrix attended a meeting with the President of the Storting, the Norwegian parliament.

The first day of the State Visit closed with a gala dinner at the Royal Palace. Queen Beatrix, the Norwegian Royal couple, the Crown Princely couple, Princess Astrid, Princess Märtha-Louise and Ari Behn were among the guests of the banquet, that was hosted by King Harald and Queen Sonja.
