King Juan Carlos undergoes Lung Surgery

Early in the morning, the official site of the Spanish royal house informed that His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain was under a surgery to remove a small growth that was located at right lung. The surgery was scheduled and because of that the King was admitted in a Barcelona Hospital yesterday night.

On April 26-27 King Juan Carlos underwent a routine checkup where the nodule was found. In a post-operation press conference, the doctors said the nodule was benign, with no malign cells.

The King is surrounded by Queen Sofia who arrived at the Barcelona hospital today just before noon to join her husband, and Infanta Elena did it in the afternoon. Infanta Cristina and the Prince and Princess of Asturias will visit the king in the oncoming days.

It is expected the King will be discharged next week. Until that day, the medical team will provide daily bulletins on king’s recovery. The first bulletin confirms the King is recovering satisfactorily form the operation.
