Where was Princess Josephine in the medal picture with the other three. Very impressive that Christian turned bac and encouraged Vincent. Lovely gesture.

Muhler, best of luck to you and your family!

What an event! Not only for the Crown Prince family but also for Denmark.
Just too many cute pictures!! Not only of the family but seeing all the participants, the joy! What an experience.

It just wonderful seeing the kids together, Christian, Isabella, Vincent and Josephine. The love and support for each other. Did we mention that Josephine completed the 5k! her second race of the day!
Love Christian using the go-pro, putting in his personal touches.

Mary and Frederik with all the Danes is just a joy!

BT has a good live coverage: https://www.bt.dk/royale/live-kaempe-loebefest-i-hele-danmark-foelg-aarets-royal-run-her

Well, we are back home - and dry again.

Good temperature for running, with a little rain, when I and Frederik ran in Aarhus at 14.00 - Okay my brother-in-law and some thousand more were also running along.
In fact I didn't see Frederik at all.
The rest of the family did see him - and us. They had lined up along the route to watch and got a first class view and a a wave from Frederik. - No doubt because my mother-in-law shouted at the top of her lungs and was flailing her arms like a windmill to get his attention - if I know her well. :D
I'd say we ran for about half the 5 km distance, the rest we walked.

A while before that the family, minus me, walked the one mile. My wife and daughter actually intended to run at least half the distance but it rained and stuff... so they walked. ?

Great mood. Loads of people around. Not least grandparents with grandchildren. I'll estimate that the wast majority were 30+ and there were lots of women, and it was clear that this event appeal very much to women, which is backed up by the statistics.
No wonder because this is more a family/social event than a sports event. As such people of all shapes and sizes and weight-classes took part.
Some 30 % of those taking part have never taken part in a run before.

After getting our medals, the family united and my mother-in-law updated me on what had happened. The phone never left her hand!
And it was time to get a hot dog before going for a change in our daughter's apartment, before going home.
Here we managed to watch Mary's run on TV. That took place in the town of Næstved - and here the run was a mega-huge event! Everybody was out running or watching.

The relationship between the royal siblings is obviously very warm. Christian is an excellent runner, he is right now running for the third time.
He came in first in the one mile run! Despite running a bit back, to pick up his younger brother.
Josephine ran the 5 km and was hugged warmly by her siblings when she, very red in the head, crossed the finishing line.

That's about the details I've picked up so far.

Oh, I'm told by my sister that her husband and I is in one of the clips on TV's site. - Haven't seen it yet, but it should be easy to spot me: I'm the big dude with the khaki T-shirt.

LOL....Christian and Vincent in the basket! That's hilarious. Frederik is probably thinking, this was so much easier when they were little!

The photos from today have been amazing! And I will say, those kids know how to give the people and the reporters/TV/Photographers the money shots! They all seemed to be having a wonderful time. And wow, Christian ran all three races in Copenhagen!

This just looks like such a wonderful, family-oriented event that makes people happy all the way around. And I will say, this event really puts Frederik in his utmost element (Mary too)!

That is simply the PR shot of the DRF.

All three have finished the 10 km.
Christian well ahead of dad. And I'm quite impressed with Christian, he gave an interview with the press - prior to dad coming in - as if it was the most normal thing in the world to do. And he gave good articulate replies.

Vincent darted in shortly after dad, to a very warm welcome. I think he got emotional in fact. - I guess Vincent gave all he had and that he moved his personal boundaries.

Now it's time for spaghetti, says Frederik.

They really are, for lack of a better term, rock stars (Frederik and Mary included). No one can say that the CP Family didn't give everyone a great show today!

Vincent is a precious treasure! I am sure Christian will make sure his dad doesn't forget he beat him in the 10K (lol).

It is evident that all four kids have had excellent media training because they really know how to handle the press, especially now that Christian and Isabella are answering questions on their own. But even seeing interviews when they were younger, they always knew how to give a great sound bite.

Were Mary and the girls at the finish line?

Yes, Mary and the girls are handing out high fives - I guess the boys are taking a shower.

Christian wasn't that interested in his time - as long as it was better than his dad's.

It looks like Christian is going to record his run ?

Does Denmark also have 'Second Day of Pentecost'? If not, what is the national holiday (assuming they don't organize the royal run on a random Monday)?

He recorded a little bit of his run. I posted the link to the video on the previous page.

What a sweet photo of Frederik with Vincent and Christian. Gee, I wonder if Frederik was bursting with pride today! :whistling:

Vincent getting alot of love today!

Yes, this is a holy-day. Just as the Monday after Easter is also a holy-day.

Everybody expects Christian to upload a clip from his run on Instagram.

ADDED: Royal Run next year will also take place on Monday after Pentecost.

Christian video is up.

Thanks. Interesting to know that Denmark and the Netherlands share this same tradition (for both Easter and Pentecost - as well as for example the 12 1/2 years of marriage celebration). And what about Ascension Day; also a national holiday? Or is that unique to the Netherlands?

That's a holy-day as well. We share a lot of Protestant celebrations.
The holiest day of the year is Good Friday, which we call Long Friday, due to Jesus suffering for a long day on the cross.
The flag is on half mast that day, regardless of other events.

I think the only holy-day at this time of year that you do not have is Great Prayer Day, which is always a Friday.
Back in the early 1700's we had a load of holy-days and that was bad for the economy, so a number of these days were amalgamated into one day, Great Prayer day.
We call them holy-days rather than holidays, because DK is constitutionally a Christian country, hence the designation as national holy-days. No other holy-days but Lutheran are officially recognized.

The photo of Frederik kissing Vincent was a winner too.

Frederik was being interviewed by the press when Vincent passed the finishing line and pretty much fell into the arms of Christian, totally blown.
That's when Frederik decided that the press could wait and hugged and kissed his youngest son, who was getting quite emotional.
Vincent didn't feel like posing and soon ran off.

I heard in a clip, Frederik ask someone who ran along with Vincent: "Did he run all the way?" - He did.

Isabella too was a model big sister. As you know she's not above planting an elbow in the ribs of Josephine if she gets too exited. But here she really hugged Josephine when she had finished the 5 km run, very red in the head.

But the winner today, must by Christian. Hands down.
Who not behaved in a manner more mature than his sixteen years, but also showed himself as a very caring older brother.

I like the photo of Mary pouring a water bottle over Vincent's head too and hugging him!

Oh Christian was all over it! Running, being a vigilant big brother, cheering on his siblings...AND, giving interviews in a more articulate manner than many adults tbh! You can tell that his siblings really look up to him and he takes his role seriously.

High Fives for everyone and Vincent trying to feed his power bar to his sister and father!

Here is a wonderful gem from yesterday: https://www.instagram.com/p/CefgJn-jcVY/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=embed_video_watch_again

In the video Isabella and Vincent are cheering the runners, while Christian and Josephine were running the 5 Km.
- Isabella has shown herself to be a typical teen before and here she does it again.
She spots a former winner in a Bake-off competition. (I'm sure you have them in your countries as well. People compete in baking cakes and depending on how good looking or charming the contestants are, they are followed with considerable interest by the viewers, not least teens.)
Anyway, Isabella spots the winner and burst out that it is the guy from Bake-off.
Whereupon Vincent calls for him, and gets a whack on the shoulder by an embarrassed older sister.
Vincent is polite: "Excuse me. Are you the one from Bake-off?"
Teen-giggles from Isabella.
The guy is named Frederik Haun: "Yes. - Nice to meet you. Have you been running as well?"
Bella: "1.6, yes. Vincent is going to run in ten minutes."
Vincent sends him off with a "Good run."

- I have a distinct feeling that if Isabella and Alexia doesn't already get along well, they would!

I saw that! The kids really put on a great show yesterday! They ran (ALOT), laughed, cheered, gave great photo opportunities, Christian gave a couple of great interviews, Vincent was a little star! They just looked excited to be there and it seemed everyone was super excited to get to see them! And of course CPC were fantastic as usual!

I just looooove this family. My goodness! The love they have for each other is so heartwarming and genuine. So many beautiful moments- Vincent nearly collapsing in the arms of his siblings, Christian running back to encourage Vincent, Josephine dancing before the start of the race, Bella and Vincent laughing an joking around while cheering on the runners, and of course beautiful embraces of the proud parents.

They will undoubtedly have different paths as they go through life but I pray and hope that the deep love the siblings have will endure all their lives.

:previous: Very enjoyable watching this fun loving and caring family out participating in the Royal Run. Great photos, articles and especially the cute video of Isabella and Vincent.

The Palace announced today that from today on starting numbers for the Royal Run 2023 on May 29, 2023 are available.

"The next edition of Denmark's biggest running festival will be launched in the following cities: Herning, Aabenraa, Nyborg, Nykøbing Falster, Copenhagen/Frederiksberg"

** instagram post **

Herning, that's in central Jutland and should attract people from the west coast of Jutland.

Aabenraa is in southern Jutland and that means some Germans may be tempted to attend. Or some from the German minority in Germany.

Nyborg is on the island of Funen and close to the Great Belt Bridge. Historically a lot of important events involving the DRF took place at the castle there.

I'm delighted that Nykøbing Falster is included this time. That part of DK tends to be ignored. Not least because Copenhagen takes a lot at attention.

Copenhagen is of course the finals and where we may expect to see the children run.

The towns are all a little more than an hours drive apart, like beads on a string, so logistically it makes good sense.

It's a nice touch that some of the cities change. Always a fun event.

Video announcement

Per the Royal Run social media, in the two months since registration opened, more than 50,000 people have signed up for Royal Run 2023. And there are still 4+ months to go. It is possible they could beat the 90,000+ registrations they had in 2022!

Aerespunkt!

An honour to be part of it, who can I meet there, anyone else is there in May?
;)cu

Crown Prince Frederik has shared a message and video today:

** instagram post **

I'm looking forward to the Royal Run on May 29, 2023, which right now has over 50,000 registrants.

As a prelude to this year's race, I participated yesterday together with Olympic silver winner Sara Slott and comedian Heino Hansen in filming for training videos, which will be released at the end of February. It was a great success despite our different levels and experience with exercise running.

I hope to see you on the 2nd of Pentecost - regardless of pace and distance.
HRH The Crown Prince.

Nice video and great message. Besides the different experience, everyone can join. I hope our Danish forum members are getting ready.

Not this year.

The nearest place from us is Herning. And while I do have relatives in Herning, I don't see them every year... Once a decade suffice.
So it will be TV this year, with running commentary.

Today a video was released to announce the cities where Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary will participate in the Royal Run this year:

Nyborg and Nykøbing Falster for Mary, Aabenraa, Herning and København/Frederiksberg for Frederik:

Wow, they'll be travelling quite a bit that day. They only skip the most northern part of Denmark (Jutland).
