But the wife of a prime minister isn't referred to as a First Lady. Because in either a presidential or monarchical system, the PM is the second person in the country, after the President or monarch. So the PM's wife would be the Second Lady, because the PM ranks second in terms of precedence. If the wife of the male prime minister is called the First Lady, the husband of the female prime minister would be the First Gentleman. Just like here in the United States, the VP's husband is the Second Gentleman. Because when the VP is male, his wife is the Second Lady.
Lovely photos from Queen Mary's second event today - attending the 50th Anniversary of Aalborg University.

When His Majesty the King resides in the Chancellery at Fredensborg Castle, there will in future be a large changing of the guard at 12.00 on Fridays. The parade on Friday will be accompanied by either the Music Corps or the Tambour Corps from the Royal Life Guard, and the parade starts at Fredensborg Station. When the officers from the detachment are replaced, there will be a registration and deregistration with the King in the Chancellery.During the reign of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe, this took place on Thursdays.Yesterday the Royal Couple moved residence to the Chancellery, and thus today was the first time that a Friday parade took place. As the King was prevented from participating, it was Her Majesty the Queen who took care of the day's tasks instead.
Mary look fantastic! Wonderful that she could attend. Yes, Frederik had the engagement at the DTU Commemoration Day that he, I believe, attends every year.Very nice Mary. Too bad Frederik was not able to attend, he has an official event today the annual Commemoration Day for DTU, Technical University of Denmark.
They carry on the traditions
As suspected, Queen Mary had quite an important meeting today which necessitated her flying back from Norway to Denmark. If not for this meeting, I'm sure she would have traveled home via royal yacht. Simple explanation. And she looks great btw!As suspected, Mary had an early unannounced meeting today. The reason for her flying back from Norway and not sailing back with the Dannebrog, which would take longer.
"Traveling to Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and many other countries, Her Majesty The Queen has met people fleeing war, persecution and climate disasters.
Denmark is on the top 10 list of donors to the UN refugee organisation UNHCR, and today Filippo Grandi, the organisation's high commissioner was in Denmark.
On the occasion, the Queen received the High Commissioner, who updated Her Majesty on the United Nations’ challenging work to protect the lives and rights of the world’s refugees, including efforts to improve the conditions of women and girls in humanitarian crises and the importance of climate change on vulnerable communities.
The ambassador of Denmark at the UN mission in Geneva, Ib Petersen, also participated in the meeting."

Thanks! Yea, that Daily Mail thing is only good for the photos. They just continue to show how inept they are otherwise full of misinformation and narrative spinning agenda. Sadly, there are too many that swallow all the DM feeds them and then repeat it as fact on places like twitter and some proceed to drag the Danish royal couple or whichever other royal they decide to "report" on. It is lazy and pure gaslighting click bait. I wish people would use more common sense.Mary looks fantastic! More on the Global Fashion Summit

no need to read the article lest you discover that Frederik and Mary's recent State Visits were actually a "summer holiday on the Daneborg ship as they sailed to Sweden and Norway"![]()

When they report on foreign royals it is usually some type of attempt at deflection or projection...depending which narrative they're trying to spin. Sadly, even with other sources available, some still will believe whatever the DM or other of the like will feed them. Thank goodness some are waking up to the manipulation and misinformationI've noticed a general tendency on DM articles on foreign royals is that the average number of comments have gone down over the past couple of years.
I don't think royalists go to tabloids first to get info on foreign royals and with Google translate becoming so much better, there are better and more correct sources of info out there.
Also, judging from the comments there are, there seem IMO to be an increasing annoyance towards the "dramatic" angles presented in the articles. Angles that are constantly refuted both by foreigners commenting on the articles as well as other sources.
Because let's face it. Most royal events are pretty undramatic and most royal relationships are pretty undramatic as well.

Like I said...deflection and projection. I would not print out the DM to wrap stinky fish in. Fish deserve better. The Daily Mail in particular seems to be really flogging the dead horse when it comes to Frederik and Mary's marriage. It seems like every other day there are a slew of articles about how they're on the verge of divorce and can't stand each other, complete with body language experts and lip readers to let us know all the ways they're subtly communicating that.
It's obnoxious.
It is. It's toe-curlingly embarrassing, not least because the number of comments in these articles are low. And those comments there are tend to question the premise of the article. No doubt because it's so easy to find and see photos where they are showing affection.
