Queen Rania launches center for care of work animals
Amman, March 19, (Petra) Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah launched the Garden Sanctuary for Animal Welfare Center, Monday, where free medical services for animal care will be offered to farmers and villagers who depend on animals for their livelihood, for the first time in the Kingdom.
The hospital, which is co-funded by the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and the Jordanian government, will provide free services for work animals. There are currently over 45,000 families in Jordan who depend on animal labor for income, either as a means of transportation, to plough, or as food sources.
Queen Rania, who in February 2006 laid the center's foundation stone, toured the facility with Her Royal Highness Princess Alia Al-Hussein, Monday.

Jordan's king urges US, EU to "adopt" Arab peace plan
Amman - After conferring with the Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa King Abdullah II of Jordan Tuesday urged the United States and European Union to 'adopt' the Arab Peace Initiative as a basis for relaunching negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, according to an official statement.
