British State Visit to France, 20-22 Sep 2023

The royal couple just landed at Orly airport.
Sunny weather but very windy. The Queen, pretty in pink, has always been unlucky with that : her hairdo was challenged one foot off the plane and she had, almost, a Marilyn moment.

The State welcome ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe is going to be spectacular.

Procession down the Champs Elysées :

After quitting the Elysée Palace and on her way to the nearby Bristish Embassy, where the royal couple will reside, Camilla left her car to greet the public to much applause.

What a great picture the King and the President on the Champs Elysées.
It was not a "bain de foule" they greated invited people.

Judging by the security concerns from various fronts it's perfectly understandable.

Camilla's outing was clearly a suprise and it was lovely to see.

Frankly the Welcome was just glorious.

Guests arriving at Versailles : black tie and long dresses.

Who was the terribly chic woman greeting at the airport on the tarmac in fuschia dress and big hat? An ambassador?

Live stream of arrivals at Versailles for state banquet

No tiara for the Queen just what seems to be the sapphire necklace given to the late Queen by George VI and the later matched bracelet.

Speeches from last night :

Livestream of the King's speech at the Senate :

Charles impressed in Germany, and now here again in France ! The reception he is receiving there is wonderful too !

Well done to The King and Queen.

Thank you to everyone posting links.:flowers:

Could a native French speaker let us know how good HM's French is. I can understand what he's saying but his accent seems stronger than that of the late queen.

His French is perfectly excellent but yes HM has a strong accent.

It's like listening to him speak English in French.

The King and the Queen had a last "informal" meeting with the Macrons at the Elysée Palace. The two couples seemed to get along extremely well and it was all smiles and kisses when it was time to say goodbye. The royal couple will spend the evening privately at the British Embassy then travel to Bordeaux tomorrow for the last leg of their visit.
