Mette-Marit is a special representative for UNAIDS. The homepage of the Royal Court published a statement made by the Princess.

“Access for all to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support is a critical part of human rights. Violations of human rights, including stigma and discrimination increase the risk of HIV and its impact. World Aids Day 2009 invites us all to engage, care and to keep the promise.”

About 40 volunteers were showing up at the Romsås Center when Mette-Marit visited it. First there was an open public event in the center. Afterwards cake and coffee were served in the volunteer center. The Crown Princess got to know how the volunteers are working and how they operate in the town.
