I guess the invitation is somehow open to the whole XX royal family, but somewhere they write max 2-3 ppl. I doubt BP sent an invitation to Catharine-Amalia and one to Beatrix. I think it’s WA and Maxima saying, “Sorry we can’t on the 5th, but we’ll be glad to be represented by Beatrix and future Queen CA at the reception. Let me know” sort of.

Some poster here said he has seen the invitation to a foreign royal. How was that invitation made? I guess there are a few papers and cards inside with relevant and more formal info. Without disclosing the person, could you kindly share with the forum some more info? It would be very interesting to know.

A recipe for a Coronation Quiche has been announced. It looks a lot easier to make than the Platinum Jubilee Pudding was!

We've been told that save the dates were sent out a while back and the formal invites only just went out. I suspect the "save the date" was actually a letter to the sovereign/ Head of State inviting them to attend or to send a representative on their behalf and asking for a reply indicating acceptance or acceptance for representatives. That way the invites can be addressed correctly to the right people. I imagine at the same time "save the dates" to all other events were sent with a similar process. So just as Fred and Mary are representing Daisy at the service Bea and Amalia are representing WA and Max at the reception.

For the late Queen's funeral the invite was actually a boring looking letter indicating a table of events the person was invited to and how many guests could attend. I imagine the same sort of thing has been done for the coronation - a very boring business like process to ensure all the details are correct, everyone knows all they need to know and then the formal beautifully designed invites are sent out much after the fact.

The most similar event not so long ago was the Investiture in 2013 in Amsterdam. Invitees got a thick envelope with the invitation, an information booklet, a card for the transfer from the pick-up point to the venue, a card to enter the security perimeter with the chair number inside the venue. More or less the same idea as if one is going through the security perimeter of an airport, finally ending on seat 16 B, Section E, if you know what I mean.

Of course for official guests all this is bypassed via their offices. To make a comparison again with an airport: compare with a VIP Plus personal service proceeding smoothly through the whole bureaucracy and security, with personal valet service and assistance. After all, we may assume that royal guests will be picked up, will be escorted by an official of the British Court and their own aide-de-camp or lady-in-waiting.

Usually invitations are exactly on names as these have to correspond with the copies of their ID's to enter the venues or areas. But I can imagine this is not applied for official guests of state.

Oh my goodness that was such a disaster. Worst mistake picking that. I mean amazing feat and amazing pudding but not suitable for a desert meant to be wildly available for people to make. They messed up.

Have to say I made the Platinum pudding for our family Jubilee celebration (with a 15 and 8 year old "helping") and it seemed pretty easy but we cheated and bought a swiss roll, curd, lemon and lime jelly, custard and just assembled it like any other trifle. Tasted delish but can't say it was homemade just home assembled!

Sounds lovely but you assembled a lemon and lime trifle. I remember laughing very hard when journalists tried to make it from scratch in their houses.

In fairness to it anyone could just assemble lemon flavoured stuff for a trifle and call it that pudding. I may try it for the coronation. So perhaps in the end they should have just said that.

Haha true - that is all we made but I agree they should have just gone all out and made it easier to make. TBH they should have got a more widely available supermarket on the panel not just Fortnum and Mason. It would have been much more popular if M&S for example was on board and produced "ready to assemble" packs

In the United Kingdom, peonies flower between late April and early June. In the month of May they are at their best.
Will peony flowers be used at the Coronation?

I've seen on comments, that will no tiaras at coronation, it's true?

The simple answer is we don't know. There are reports of people having seen invites even to foreign royals that states day dress/hats for women.
However, we don't know about members of the British Royal Family. There is a possibility the women in the RF - working members, or the wider group of all adult females, will wear tiaras. In that case it would be similar to the State Opening of Parliament where the late Queen and her ladies in waiting wore white gowns and tiaras while the wider audience (invited guests in the galleries etc) wore day dresses and hats.
