The Royal Run: 2019-2024

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
 It's very dry humor. I love it.

And of course all of you here who intends to follow, you do realize that you have sort of committed yourselves to do the one mile, right? Whether you run, walk or crawl doesn't matter. You do it for Frederik. ;)

He's morphing from Silver Fox into Adorable Middle-Aged Dad ... and I'm totally here for it.

Also, the video makes me feel less guilty about my lazy training.:whistling:

Okay, the concept of these videos is simple: Take an average pig-colored, overweight and out of shape Dane and demonstrate that you by simple and easy preparations can make him complete something that seems unrealistic.

To that we have a professional athlete to demonstrate these simple exercises.
Frederik being the hare and moral backup.
And Heino being the subject.

So we have the trainer: T.
Frederik: F.
And Heino: H. - A far from a-typical 39 year old Dane.

I'll translate more or less roughly what they say in chronological order and given that the videos are so short, I won't add times.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqCxzxdobc-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
We start out by Heino explaining that he signed up for the 10 km in Copenhagen. Adding: "There is no need to do it all today, then there isn't that much to train for."
F: Correct.
H: "I think I'm more fund of running, than running is fond of me."
T: Explains you don't go further down than this.
H: "Why, that's all joints all at once!"
Frederik assess Heino's chances for completing to be really good.
H while running with Frederik: "The respect goes two ways. He has spend several years on this, I'll have to do it in four months. But then I'm a quick beginner."

- I love Heino's deadpan, dry humor! (Wonder if you get it.)
He should be an honorary Jutlander.

- Will translate the first video as well, if you think this makes sense.

I did not realize there was a page for running royals.

I found this virtual run for King Charles's coronation, https://ace-races.co.uk/products/the-coronation-of-king-charles-iii-virtual-race-5km. I am considering running the 5k with a tiara on. ?

That would be fun. Please do and tell us about it - and a nice pic of the tiara with you under it would be fun as well. Nudge, nudge. ?

thank you Muhler,

We got some trivia.
Frederik has a treadmill at home and there he pace away for 20 minutes to get the pulse running.

There is BTW another and quite fun way of getting the pulse up a bit if you are a dog owner: It's "seek mother" (or dad, or child). Your wife walks some twenty minutes ahead through fields, meadows, forest whatever and then you dog is told to "seek mother." The pace is pretty high, a lot higher than normal dog-walking speed! Our Sanne loves it, especially because mother has a sausage for her and she is told she's the best tracker in the world.
I do wonder why I almost always ends up being the one who has to try and keep up with our dog though... :ermm:

Well, now I have to do it. Not that I needed much motivation.

Crown Prince Frederik presented this year's sustainable medal:

"For this year's Royal Run medal, the medal will be made from recycled acrylic sheets and the medal strap will be made from PET material made from used water and soda bottles that have been melted and textile fibres":

"See the program for D.K.H. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess's participation in the Royal Run on 29 May?
The Crown Prince arrives in Aabenraa with the Royal Ship Dannebrog at 10:15 and starts the race at 10:45. He himself participates in the One mile distance.
After the trip in Aabenraa, he continues to Herning, where he arrives at 13:15 and participate in the 5 km distance, which is sent off at 1:45 p.m.
The tour then continues towards the Royal Run in Copenhagen/Frederiksberg, where the Crown Prince will run 10 km. He shoots the fastest 10 km runners off at 18:55 and runs himself in the heat immediately afterwards.
The Crown Princess begins her day in Nyborg, where she arrives at 11:15. She will participate in the One Mile distance herself and will start the race approx. at 11:35.
After the visit to Nyborg, the Crown Princess goes to Nykøbing Falster, where she arrives at 15:45 and participate in the 5 km distance at 16:15."

Children and art, a great idea
"When HRH the Crown Princess takes part in the Royal Run in Nykøbing F, she will be with the younger part of the population in Lolland-Falster. Guldborgsund Municipality has involved children and young people across the municipality in both the planning and implementation.
For the workshop 'Running Street Art' at Kulturfabricken, children and young people aged 13-17 have created works of art that will be part of the decoration of the running routes for the Royal Run in Nykøbing"

These photos are just delightful, you can't fake this kind of love and affection.

Lovely photos! Mary and Frederik are obviously doing a great job with their children, wonderful to see the affection the children have for their parents and each other.

These photographs are just beautiful in more senses than one. What a delight to see the affection between them and the apparent support and love they give each other. What role models and such a joy to behold. Look forward to tomorrows pictures.

Very cute video. It looks like Vincent enjoys running like his dad. Last year he did the 10km

The whole thing will start in a few hours. It's ideal running weather today: Dry all day with temperatures of 15-18 degrees C.
Which means there is a higher probability of the CP-family hanging around and interacting with the crowd.

Will look forward to seeing photos and videos when I get home tonight.

Our beloved Queen Daisy following the race from Fredensborg.

Vincent was the first of his siblings to cross the finish line, Christian led for most of the race, but after Vincent managed to caught up with him, Christian slowed down and allowed his little brother to get ahead.

Why does it have a name in English and not Danish?

:previous: I mean, why does "Copenhagen Marathon" have an English title instead of a Danish one?

For what it's worth, "Kongeligt Løb" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as the alliterating and roll off the tongue "Royal Run" (although arguably... some Danes struggle a bit with the rolling R's :D).

Just a fantastic event! The galleries of people old and young, fit or not, taken part is a joy! Something that started from Frederik's 50th birthday to now a staple in DK.
Love how they split cities to cover and meet as many as they can. Mary running with some of her organizations is great. And of course the 4 siblings, always a joy to see their interactions with each other and the public. Hearing from them too!

Some galleries

One thing all kept bringing up is the advise from Frederik, everyone runs their own race

At the 10km

"Prince Vincent completed the journey in 47 minutes, Prince Christian took 50 minutes, and Heir Frederik completed it in 53 minutes."

Beautiful pictures

This seemed to be a fantastic event. The royal family and the citizen of Denmark should be very proud of it. So much unity and community.
