I think she looked lovely simple and elegant not fussy or over the top.

Queen Máxima followed the protocol and was dressed according the etiquette: formal ladies' day wear. Doña Letizia "forgot" who she is and who she was actually visiting. Way underdressed.

I'll not reiterate what I have said in other threads, suffice to say that I really like these dresses on Letizia - a nice clean-lined dress with some interesting embroidery cleverly designed.
It is nice to see the development of the individual queens' styles and to see that they are simply sticking to what they know, love and feel comfortable wearing for whatever occasion.

Letizia looked amazing today. She follows the style and etiquette of the spanish queens. She understands that "less is more". A beautiful dress with some great embroidery. Letizia looks always good in red. Nice shoes which match with the dress. Her hair looked good. And the clutch brought some edge to the outfit.

You and the other posters are right, the dress looks georgeous on her. Red suits her and I also loove the clear lines with some intersting details here and there.
But with a hat it even would have been the dot on the i.

The Spanish royals do not wear hats or gloves that is not their style. The only time they wear these things are at weddings.

I don't like this dress at all for this occasion and I agree that Letizia is underdressed. The poloneck is far too casual, hair is flat with grey roots, in the close up the material of the dress looks cheap. Shoes & clutch are mismatched imo.

IMO Letizia doesnt look like the Queen of Spain but Felipe's LIW

Letizia looks fine, as does Maxima. They have differing styles for court dress, also different personalities. I like the dress, very red and very Spanish and it fits her well.

I like the collar and the buttons which would've been quite elegant with a nice belt with embellishments. Moreover, the hair should've been up or styled better, this is not an everyday event.

Oh, I agree with you. I prefer Letizia's as well. But then again I am a little more understated than Maxima, although I do admire her flamboyance.

The colour red is always nice on Letizia but I don't like this outfit and I really wish that Letizia would do something with her hair. Sadly today Letizia did not look like a Queen Consort visiting another Kingdom on an official visit!

We have to look to the event: the King of Spain brings a visit to the King of the Netherlands. This is not just the neighbour hopping over to borrow a cup of sugar. Doña Letizia has misunderstood the protocol and etiquette.
Queen Mathilde is also not a so very hat-and-glove-type of person but when she made a visit to The Hague she knew she had to step up: http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Q...F3EqEuF_Mx.jpg

I think its safe to say we were never gonna get QL wearing a hat or gloves today, its not her style but she could have made an effort and worn a necklace or bracelet.

No need to wear hat or gloves, I agree that this is not Letizia's style. But she could have stepped up in other ways, eg hair up, more classy dress, tasteful jewellery. The collar is too casual, as is the flying hair.
