September 27, 2016 - Mary at a reception at the embassy in Washington DC
A lovely shade of blue but can't tell much about the dress itself. The pumps look to casual for a reception, black would've been a better choice.

Omg! I had totally forgotten. Great eye, Duke!
I still think it's pretty, but not elegant enough...

i liked the deep blue shade and i think the 'jumpsuit' design of the trouser part is interesting. however, i think it doesn't look as elegant or as poised as a dress would. but i like the fit of the upper part and i think overall the design is an interesting twist to the usual 'dress' take.

I do love the color on her, not a fan of the jumpsuit. Would look more elegant if a dress. But the blue is fantastic with her colouring

I think the gown is awful. The print is horrible and too much.

Crown Princess Mary's Eveningwear Part 17: September 2016 -
The print of the dress is dreadful. The dress looks very casual next to Frederick's tux. From what I can see, the earrings are lovely though.

I agree; the dress looks garish and reminds me of those psychedelic prints from the sixties.
Also, why wear a dress with that skirt to a ball? How could she possibly dance in it without tripping, or else tripping her partner?

i am with you. there is something about this print that makes me cringe. i like the cut of the dress though, i think it would be a winner in another pattern/colour that was less distracting. there's too much going on in this one for me.

I think the dress fits her superbly and I like the mix of colors and the way it floats. The print is a bit dated and probably not going to make it into the fashion hall of fame, though.
I like a good non-matching gem with the best of them, but, were these really that aqua and how did that add to the overall look? And with the other jewelry? Really, I feel like I'm missing the point and would love it if someone would clue me in.
I do think her hair was youthful and perfect for the dress/situation.

If you watch the video at Billed Bladet, you'll see that it's no problem at all.

seeing the dress in motion, I like it a bit more. It has a nice flow. Works really well for a grand ball. The print might be too much for the day, but at night and for a dance, I like it
and it fits like a glove on Mary
