I really like Camilla's necklace. What kind of stone is it? It looks like an aquamarine.

Princess Michael also looked very elegant, and at the harm of the dashing Prince Michael - they certainly were a most handsome couple!
James and I were discussing how regal the Michaels look - If I was ingnorant where Royalty was concerned and I was told, "They're the King and Queen of X" - I'd believe it.

Princess Micheal is still very stricking for her age. Prince and Princess Michael definitly look like the King and Queens of a time long gone. I love Camillas necklace. The blue stone(aquariem) just shimmers and dazzles in all the pics.

I also read the the COurt CIrcular for yesterday already though it seemed an important event but on the Court Circular showing that Her Majesty got a Knighting Service for someone.

A taste of the future? Everything about it could have been post ERII.

The pictures posted by Beatrix fan were wonderful. Camilla and Princess Micheal both looked stunning. Does anyone know what the sashes that Anne, Charles, Philip and Prince Micheal are wearing represent? I was just wondering if they mean anything or do they have to do with military rank . Prince Micheal's is different than the other 3 which are the same shade of blue.

The Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, and the Princess Royal were wearing the Order of the Garter. Prince Michael of Kent was wearing the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. The Duke of York was wearing a lower rank of that order (which is why he had no sash).

Probably because he's a younger son. Charles got it because he's the heir, but other royals generally tend to have to wait a while before getting the Garter. The Duke of Gloucester only got his very recently.

There is also the fact that other members of the family who have recieved the Order of the Garter are more respected than Prince Andrew and are more deserving.

Why do you think Prince Andrew is not deserving of the honor?

Most people have very little time for Prince Andrew.
After all, this is the man who brought us Fergie.

In my opinion, he is not deserving because he cares more about golf than his actually royal duties.

I guess I have the wrong impression from him because his list of engagements seems lengthy to me.

Its not size that counts, but quality.
Yes he may have many engagements but he simply does not have the royal touch. He's caused too much trouble in recent years regarding the words money, helicopter and golf.
However, I did think that his suprise visit to Iraq was under-reported.

I think some of the press feel a strange obligation to balance stories on BRF. If they have a positive report on a royal, say Prince William visit Centrepoint, they have to put out a negative story on some other royal, like Princess Michael talking about her in-laws to the fake shiek or Andrew fitting a golf game inbetween engagements. It seems they don't want to appear to be promoting the royals too much. Yet they don't want to be accused of republicanism by the palace. Plus, a story with Prince or Princess in the headline always sells more paper.
