On January 29, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge opened a new branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland.

Kate became patron of the V&A in February 2018, and the new museum was the centre of a project aiming to regenerate Dundee’s waterfront to reshape the city’s future as a hub for creative industries. Kate is a keen photographer and said she was “thrilled to be standing in a brand new V&A” during her speech at the opening.

Kensington Palace added that the visit had helped increase Kate’s interest in visual arts and will highlight how important institutions like the V&A are for local communities as more residents will have access to art and design.

Ian Borthwick, Lord Provost met the couple after they had visited the museum as they travelled to the Crest Community Centre where they were greeted by crowds of schoolchildren.
