Garden Party Season Is Here! First of the Year Held at Buckingham Palace

The first garden party of the season was held this afternoon at Buckingham Palace, with 8,000 guests invited for tea, sandwiches and a variety of delicious cakes.

Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh headed the family in attendance: the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Beatrice of York, the Earl of Wessex, the Princess Royal, and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent.

The royals mingled with their guests – representing a large cross-section of British society – on the Palace lawns.

The Duchess of Cambridge revealed that she was “really looking forward” to the wedding of her sister Pippa Middleton this coming weekend, but she was “a bit worried about how her children [Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who will be pageboy and flower girl for their aunt] might behave” because “you never know at that age”.
