The Crown Princess of Brunei Turns Thirty
Crown Princess Sarah of Brunei (full title: Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Salleh Abdul Rahaman) today celebrates her thirtieth birthday.
She was born in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, in 1987 as the only daughter of Pengiran Salleh Abdul Rahaman Pengiran Damit, a distant relation of the royal family. Sarah attended St Andrew’s School and Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, before completing her tertiary education in 2010 at the University of Brunei Darussalam where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Administration.
In September 2004, at the age of 17, she married the Crown Prince of Brunei, Al-Muhtadee Billah. The couple have three children: Prince Abdul Muntaqim, Princess Muneerah Madhul and Prince Muhammad Aiman.
During her time at university, the Princess joined the army cadets and the university netball team. In 2005, she participated in the Queen’s Baton Relay for the 2006 Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne.
