King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima Visit The Krimpenerwaard Region

Today, Tuesday February 21, Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima paid a visit to the Region of Krimpenerwaard.

Upon their arrival to the municipality of Krimpen aan den IJssel, they were received in the Town Hall by Jaap Smit, King’s Commissioner of South Holland, Martijn Willem Vroom, Mayor of Krimpen aan den IJssel and Roel Cazemier, Mayor of Krimpenerwaard. At the Town Hall, The King and the Queen met with members of the municipal governments and discussed future prospects of the Region. The Royal Couple then signed the guest book.
In the village of Gouderak, Their Majesties visited a former farm that was converted in a Bed & Breakfast, “De Appelgaard”. After a tour of the facility, the Royal Couple had a meeting with farmers and environmental organizations that focus on the challenges faced by the local farmers nowdays.

Later the King and the Queen went to the village of Berkenwoude, where, in the community center “De Zwaan”. They attended a conference titled “The power of the community” about the power of the community. Attending the conference were volunteers of various organizations.

Afterwards in the village of Bergambacht, the Royal Couple visited the company Koninklijke Otolift Stairlifts which is the largest Dutch producer of stairlifts. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the facility of the company along with the owners and they had a meeting with several entrepreneurs from the Krimpenerwaard Region.
The visit ended in the village of Bergambacht where a reception in the former Town Hall took place.
