Princess of Asturias Awards Presented in Oviedo

The 2016 Princess of Asturias Awards were presented this evening at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. King Felipe, Queen Letizia and Queen Sofia were in attendance for the event.

This year’s laureates are: for Arts, Núria Espert; for Communication and Humanities, James Nachtwey; for Social Sciences, Mary Beard; for Technical and Scientific Research, Hugh Herr; for Sport, Javier Gómez Noya; for Literature, Richard Ford; for International Cooparetion, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement; and for the Concord Award, SOS Children’s Villages.

Queen Letizia wore a nude dress with a heavily beaded pattern in black, while Queen Sofia stuck to her usual formal evening suits in silver with a floral detail on the lapel.
