Last night Queen Mathilde of the Belgians was joined by her husband King Philippe at the first concert for the semi-finals for piano music of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition. The concert was held at the BOZAR in Brussels. The king and queen posed in front of a bust of Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians, great-grandmother of King Philippe. She started the competition in 1937. The competition was only named for the Queen in 1951. For the occassion the bust of the Queen was covered with purple flowers.

Mathilde wore a new maxi-dress by Diane von Fürstenberg, which she paired with a bracelet by Tikli Jewelry, a clutch from A Bag With a Story and new earrings by  Herve van der Straeten.

During the semi-finals the queen took her youngest daughter Eleonore and her youngest son Emmanuel along on different occassions. Crown Princess Elisabeth and Prince Gabriel will still have an opportunity to come along: there will be several more piano finals and the competition for the violin still has to get started.
