King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands paid an introductory visit to the Kingdom of Spain on Wednesday September 18th.

The Dutch King and Queen arrived for the one day visit at the Torrejon Air Base, where they were greeted by the Prince and Princess of Asturias. Their Majesties were accompanied by the Prince and Princess to the Zarzuela Palace outside Madrid, which is the residence of the King of Spain.

Awaiting outside the Palace’s main entrance were King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain and their eldest daughter, Infanta Elena. The Dutch King and Queen posed for a series of photos with the Spanish Royal Family before going inside for a luncheon held inside on their honour.

Following the luncheon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the Congreso de los Diputados in Madrid and also met with the Spanish Prime Minister at Palacio de la Moncloa.
