How disappointing for everyone involved, but these things happen. It's actually surprising it doesn't happen more often, when you think about it.
the Crown Princess today received Executive Director (ED) for UN Women and UN Under-Secretary General Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka in Frederik VIII's Palace, Amalienborg.
At the meeting, Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka told UN Women's ongoing work and priorities in ensuring equality. In addition, she also told about the challenges the organization faces in its global work.

Mary presents the Women's Board Award 2019 Women's Board Award was first awarded in Denmark in 2014, and the purpose of the award is to create greater diversity in the top of Danish business and support the

Re this thread: Queen Margrethe is patron of the Danish Cancer Society. Not Crown Princess Mary.

For some reason, it's the Crown Princess who attends most events connected to the society.

Mary commended that a number of retail chains will no longer display cigarettes prominently.
But I can see one major chain is not included.

Today 24 % of those aged 16-19 smoke cigarettes regularly or at social occasions. For whatever odd reason that number has gone up by 2 % since 2013, despite campaigns and increasing prices.

Thanks for that pick-up Nordic, a mistake on our part. The necessary changes have been made.

News from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

On 26-27 March, HRH The Crown Princess and Minister for Development, Ulla Tørnæs, visit Ethiopia. The visit will focus on the UN's World Goals 5 on gender equality and the rights and opportunities of women and girls.

The Crown Princess and the Minister for Development Cooperation will meet female decision makers, opinion makers, business leaders and entrepreneurs.

The working visit will also focus on the role of Ethiopia as a host country for one of Africa's largest refugee populations. The Crown Princess and the Minister of Development will visit a refugee reception center, a home for unaccompanied minors and a local school built in cooperation between host and refugee communities with Danish assistance.

H.K.H. Kronprinsessen og udviklingsminister Ulla Tørnæs besøger Etiopien

This working visit does not appear in the royal calendar/Marys official calender.
Probably due to security.

Danish Ambassador, Karin Poulsen, in Ethiopia:

"I'm pleased to welcome HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, Ulla Tœrnæs to Ethiopia. I look very much forward to the coming days experiences with you - starting with St. Paul’s Hospital this morning."

Thanks Polyesco & Iceflower. :flowers:

Mary and the delegation will go north to near Eritrea tomorrow.
The regime in Eritrea is oppressive but AFAIK there are few border troubles, so it should be pretty safe to go to that area. - Of course there is no need to advertise the upcoming visit of foreign dignitaries.

While Ethiopia itself has launched a number of initiatives to better women's rights and in fertility clinics for women in the country, there are still a large number of refugees and internal displaced persons, and as always it's the women and children who are most vulnerable.
The border zones with most refugees - and threats - are along the border to South Sudan and parts of Somalia.
Pretty far from the capital Addis Ababa and the border to Eritrea.
