I wonder if he quietly met the Ukrainian pilots?

They are flying right now, I'm sure, because the flight pattern is different.
Apparently we live near one of the favorite training routes for the air force so we hear F-16s on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Monday is for planning, Tuesday and Wednesday for flying, Thursday for evaluation. Friday is a short day at the office before they head home for a long weekend, they are after all fly-boys. ?
But within the past month we have begun hearing F-16s all the time, even on Sundays! And it's not because they are scrambled, the routes to the North Sea and the Baltic don't go anywhere near here.

Nice to see BT didn't bother to cover it since it appears to be quite an important engagement. Interesting what gets extensive sometimes ott coverage and what just gets passed over.

Very interesting to read! If there was an opportunity I'm sure he met them.

I would love to hear your thoughts on "fly-boys" and Frederik's airforce uniform. Another he does not wear too often.

More on the event.

Well, he was wearing the dress uniform of the air force and that looks absolutely fine to me. The gala uniform however... The less written about that, the better.

The American Singing Sergeants are wearing a kind of dress uniform, I guess. And it's... all right, I suppose.
They do remind me of a choir from the Salvation Army though.
What is it with air force uniforms nowadays?!? They are over-designed IMO.

Enough rant about that. Back to Frederik.
It is said that the fly-boys from the air force complain if they don't make it home for tea/coffee.
The army complain if they don't make it home for the weekend.
And the navy complain if they don't make it home for Christmas.
- There is a good deal of truth in that.

The whole fighter base/air station Skrydstrup has been redesigned in connection with these new fighters.
Partly to ensure the hangars are better able to withstand an attack but even more in order to keep these new fighters well out of sight of nosy eyes and to keep them better guarded, because they are full of top secret stuff. And air fields tend to be located on flat pieces of ground offering a good view with telescopes and binoculars from the surrounding area.
And there are lots of amateur plane-spotters around who would love to add F-35s to their collection and especially details about F-35s and upload them to be admired and discussed among their peers.

Better to be prepared than unprepared given the current political tensions

Frederik will be visiting Paris this weekend.
"Crown Prince Frederik will participate on both Saturday and Sunday in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Danish Church in Paris - Frederikskirken.

On Sunday, the Crown Prince will also participate in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of the Danish Jews in October 1943."

"His Royal Highness the Crown Prince is in connection with this on a visit to the French capital to participate in the celebration together with, among others, the church minister, representatives of the Danish churches abroad, former priests of the church in Paris and members of the church council.
The anniversary weekend was started on Saturday afternoon with a festive concert in The Lutheran Church Saint Jean. This church formed the framework for the Danish congregation from 1923 until 1955, when the current church building, Frederikskirken, was inaugurated by the Crown Prince's grandparents Frederik 9. and Queen Ingrid."

"The UN's Climate Panel has identified the capture and storage of CO2 as an important tool for achieving the international climate goals. CO2 capture and storage is also called CCS, and these days it is precisely the focal point of a large international conference in Aalborg, where His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was present today. Here, the Crown Prince presided over the official inauguration of a new pilot plant for CO2 capture at the company Aalborg Portland. CO2 capture and storage can also help reduce some of the CO2 emissions from those sectors that do not have the opportunity to switch their entire production, for example waste incineration and cement production. His Royal Highness and the rest of the delegation were subsequently given a tour of the Port of Aalborg, where the port's managing director, Kristian Thulesen Dahl, gave an introduction to Denmark's first large-scale CO2 reception facility."

Very relevant as the company Aalborg Portland is a big cement factory and as such a major producer of CO2 waste.
Slowing down production or even spending time on restructuring the production of cement is totally out of the question for many years, because there are countless building projects going on in DK these years and even bigger building projects out in the North Sea and along the Danish shores, where I don't know how many thousand windmills are going to be erected within the net years alone.
Because windmills means not only a very significant overall reduction of CO2 emissions, but also a huge energy reduction, of which a vast amount will become a part of the EU energy grid, not least in Germany and the rest of Central Europe. It also means energy-independence and amassing even more know-how within that field.
The whole of south-east of the North Sea is destined to become one big windmill-park over the coming years.
It requires huge amounts of concrete!

A nice message from Frederik to the female handball team from Greenland.
"Good luck to the Greenlandic handball women, who today play their first World Cup match in 22 years!
The handball women's road to the World Cup has been impressive. With victories in all five matches in the qualification round, the Greenlandic fighting spirit has already shown its worth. It will be exciting to follow.

Frederik arrived at Nordkraft in Aalborg in Krone 8, the Audi A8 L Hybrid, one of the Royal Court's cars.
But Frederik wasn't at the car the whole way from Copenhagen to Aalborg. He instead chose another climate-burdening transport option and flew to the conference in Aalborg. (..)

Unfortunately he does have a point. These... cases of unfortunate judgement happens too often. And not only in regards to the DRF. It appears to be a general logistic problem with most royal families.

I imagine Frederik hitched a ride to Aalborg airport, where there is a air station as well. Used mainly by the army special forces BTW. Or he decided to fly commercial from Copenhagen to Aalborg.
Sure beats an uneventful four hour drive. (Probably closer to five hours because the driver needs a break.)

It should be possible to rent a limousine locally whenever the DRF are on the job in Jutland and have the driver go by train.
Or have a car stationed at a military base in Jutland or a garage at Marselisborg. Where it can be maintained in a secure location and taken or a spin once in a while.

I can well understand they will continue to use the DRF drivers, it's a question of confidentiality and evasive driving just in case something happens.

It's simply one of those little unnecessary things royals can avoid being criticized for with just a little planning and effort.

At least he doesn't have a private/personal helicopter on standby like it appears some royals do that is used on fairly easy engagements to get to by other transportation means.

Program for HRH the Crown Prince's participation in COP28 in Dubai

On the 5th-6th December 2023, HRH the Crown Prince will participate in the climate conference COP28 in Dubai.

The Crown Prince, in the company of, among others, the Minister for Climate, Energy and Supply, Lars Aagaard, will focus on the Danish efforts and interests in the global fight for the climate.

The Crown Prince, together with Danish ministers and companies, will represent Denmark and the country's role in the fight to achieve the UN's climate goals. Through panel debates, speeches and activities at the Danish pavilion, the delegation will focus on how Danish companies within, among other things, solar energy, offshore wind and green technology can help the world to lower CO2 emissions.
