im sorry to ask, but what is a consul meeting?..
A meeting of honorary consuls is basically an official aknowledgement of the work they are doing as consuls and representatives for a country, in this case Denmark.
A consul need not be a professionel diplomat, let alone be a Danish citizen. Rather it's a person who has a connection with DK in one way or another and who promote DK, usually in the world of business, commerce or culture.
Honorary consuls also offer assistance and advise to Danish businesses or cultural personalities who wish to establish or obtain contacts in the local area. (That of course can also very much be an advantage to the coutnry the consul is living).
An honorary consul is not to be confused with a consulate, which is diplomatic local branch of the official embassy.
The DRF has always worked closely with the business world and that is also why this very much involves the DRF, more so perhaps than the Foreign Ministry.
So the honorary consuls are very much goodwill ambassadors for DK, but on a more practical level. And in return they get the big show, when they are invited to DK. (Which also benefits them and their businesses in return). As always this is about money and export.
Don't know if this is relevant to this thread:
Kronprinsesse Mary i kjole af græsk designer | Royalista
Royalista has some pics and info on the dress Mary wore.
It's by a Greek designer, Mary Katrantzou and it's the first time Mary is wearing something by that designer.
