Birgit Nilsson Prize 2009

Today Swedish King Carl Gustaf awarded the Spanish opera tenor and conductor Placido Domingo with the first Birgit Nilsson Prize, created by late Swedish soprano Birgit Nilsson. Duchess of Kent Honors Young Musicians

The Duchess of Kent was treated to a special concert at the Ryedale Festival tea party. First Patronage for Princess Marie

The Tønder Festival was announced by the Danish Royal Court as the first patronage of HRH Princess Marie. The annual folk music festival, which takes place in the southern-Danish city of Tønder neighbouring Marie’s home at Schackenborg Castle, has been running since 1975. Today Queen Fabiola of the Belgians performed her first official duty since her stay in hospital earlier this year. The 80 year old queen was admitted to the hospital in January due to a pneumonia.
