On This Day: Birth of Landgrave Philipp of Hesse
One hundred twenty years ago today, Prince Philipp of Hesse was born in Schloss Rumpenheim in Offenbach. The prince was the third son of Prince Friedrich Karl of Hesse and Princes Margaret of Prussia, sister of Emperor Wilhelm II and grand daughter of Britain’s Queen Victoria. Today Prince Donatus of Hesse and Countess Floria-Franziska von Faber-Castell celebrate their 12th wedding anniversary. The couple tied the knot in a civil wedding on April 25, 2003 and a religious wedding on May 17, 2003. The wedding took place in Germany and was attended by over 300 guests including royalty. The couple have three children together, a daughter and two sons.

The Head of the House of Hesse, Moritz, Landgrave of Hesse, has passed away at the age of eighty-six. The Landgrave passed away in the afternoon of May 23rd, following a long-term lung illness.
