The visit to Skagen began with the arrival of the Dannebrog at the Old Pier in the Port of Skagen, where Frederik and Mary appeared on the deck of the yacht with their youngest children, seven-month-old Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine. The twins stayed aboard though, as their parents disembarked for the official welcoming ceremony in the Port.

Throughout the course of the day, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary visited a kindergarden, where the Prince took off the hat which went with his naval uniform and used it as a mock drum – Mary went the more normal route and used a toy drum. Princess Mary later visited a museum in Skagen, where she was presented with two stuffed teddy bears – one in pink and one in brown – for the twins. The Prince and Princess also posed for photos on a cliff-face near the sea.

Day one ended with an official reception aboard the Dannebrog, hosted by the Crown Prince and Princess, for local officials. The tour continues today, with the royals embarking upon Hanstholm.
