This! 100% agree!! I truly feel sorry for them... Looking back at King Michael's funeral, his family was fortunate in that the Romanian authorities and people provided them a lot of support and assistance. That must have provided relief in what is already a horrible process...

I still strongly feel that King Konstantinos and his family don't deserve this treatment. Even you feel like he made wrong/foolish decisions as a young man, the treatment from the Greek authorities and many Greek people is not commensurate.

Indeed. I can certainly see many reasons why their attendance would not be confirmed in advance. I'm sure the Greek government wouldn't want people coming out on the streets hoping to see them adding to the appearance of support for the Greek King and monarchy. Add in security reasons to not announce and its possible they still may attend, slim possibility IMO.

I'm surprised how Greek Anne Marie looks if that makes any sense. I hope she is taking some comfort in the support shown - from fellow royals and the public a like.

It's very sweet. I hope that they've been able to move past whatever it was that had them on opposite sides.
Family is important. Especially in their positions.

How sweet :) so glad to see that all bad rumors and mere speculation in royal-watching circles is simply rumors and speculation, far from reality. May this be a lesson to us all.
 
It was family what put them on opposite sides, as Marie-Chantal was quick to defend Doña Sofía after the infamous and shameful incident in Mallorca. It was only logical that if she decided to accompany King Felipe, it was because she was going to behave.

I'm overjoyed to see that Farah Diba did manage to go to Athens.

I think everyone knows all families fall out from time to time, both did something wrong so seems they've both decided to forget it and move on, forget and forgive each other. Times like this especially show its not worth holding a grudge. Definitely a lesson to us all.

Oh I haven't seen pics of Farah Diba, so glad she is there.

Imagine your domain and your properties are stolen from you and then the thief expects you to pay for the upkeep of the loot? That is in essence the problem with Tatoi.

Say it again. Some just have to read the thread to understand because the constant “oh they have money why did they wait”comments forget that the royals don’t own the grounds of Tatoi. So how could they have prepared it when don’t even own it.

Watch the videos of this dinner, in this blog. In the first we can see that Queen Anna Maria says goodbye , her son Filippos. The Guests staying at the Hotel walk to principal door. King Felipe, Queen Letizia, the family of Prince Pavlos are staying at the Grande Bretagna hotel, but King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia with Princess Irene, they are not staying at the hotel. In the second video Empress Farah appears, she is not staying at the hotel either. At the beginning of the video after Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedicta is Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark walking towards the hotel. And other guests Serbian, Romania, Russia, Hannover

I am not sure that an almost 40 year old is truly that close to an 80+ year old - even if that 80+ year old is his father's first cousin. Nonetheless, it shows to me that Ernst August (as he has shown in the past) takes his responsibilities as future had of the House very seriously. For all intents and purposes, he is already acting as if he is the Head of the House - given how his father hasn't been able to or at least hasn't done so for many years.

Good to see Lady Gabriella Kingston attend the dinner and other Godchildren and many grand nieces and nephews there as support for the grandchildren.
The family looks very close at this sad time.

Thank you. I am as guilty of
that as anyone( assuming that relations between Royal family members exist the way I have read about them online:whistling:)

Letizia and MC behaving harmoniously with one another and not providing grist for the gossip press is a wonderful thing to see.

In other news, I almost didn't recognize Froilan and Victoria de Marichalar.

I almost fainted when I saw a man who looked like Inaki Urdangarin standing next to Juan Carlos.:lol::ohmy:

CP Pavlos's sons are all Miller..right down to their long hair with middle part, worn by their grandfather Bob Miller.;)

Does anyone have a working link to these pictures. These seem to be the final public pictures of Constantine - it's quite fitting that it is with his wife and both sisters. The three women in his life who probably have been most important when his whole lifetime is taking into consideration.

Good point. You are right. Ernst August is indeed among the various royal godchildren of Constantine.

In the series of videos where Philippos is trying to bid his mother goodnight, a pap repeatedly calls his name and is completely ignored.

However, when an elderly woman approaches Princess Alexia and her family on the street, the stranger is treated with great warmth.

The exiled GRF seem determined to continue to keep as positive ties as possible to the Greek people.
 
According to media sources, the Prince and Princess of Wales and Princess Alexandra zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg will attend the funeral. Is it true?
 
Princess Alexandra is already there, I saw pictures of her. I don't know about the Wales.
 
Unless he is detained in London by something very important/serious, I feel it would be very bad form for William to miss his godfathers funeral.:sad:

I wasn’t referring to the relationship between the late King Constantine and Ernst August jnr but what what I meant was that Ernst August jnr is very close to the Greek royals in general especially because MC and Pavlos were at his wedding, He was at Philipos wedding or at least his mum was there, plus Queen Sofia was present at an exhibition on the House of Hanover in one of the family castles. Plus Olympia is godmother to his eldest daughter. Plus he shares a number of mutual friends with them.
 
I was shocked to see Marie Chantal and Queen Letizia arm-in-arm. I'm not sure if it's a publicity stunt or if the two women have genuinely reconciled.
I'm also impressed by the turnout of the Spanish grandkids. It's good they are all there to pay respects to their grand uncle. Was it announced that Leonor or Sofia would be attending?
